Aims & Scope

The Journal of African Trade (JAT) is an annual peer-reviewed open-access journal published by the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank). It publishes articles that test, advance, and develop models, frameworks, and concepts in the broad areas of international trade, trade finance, economic development, and international finance. Specifically, the journal focuses on:

  • Theoretical issues related to the development of trade, with particular emphasis on African trade
  • Policy and institutional issues related to the development of African trade and trade finance
  • Contemporary issues relevant to global and African trade and trade finance
In addition to these core areas, the journal also considers papers on trade facilitation and other socio-economic issues related to Africa’s economic and social development. The journal seeks to enhance understanding of the role of trade and trade-related issues in Africa’s development process.
